"I would never replace Pix", says Eduardo Bolsonaro

Former congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro, who currently lives in the United States, used social media this Thursday (4) to say that he "would never replace Pix".

The publication, according to him, was a way to clarify an excerpt from an interview he gave to a radio station in São Paulo and which had been distorted by some media outlets.

"Pix was created by my father, without fees and it should remain that way", he wrote.

On Wednesday (3), Eduardo mentioned that the United States has a system similar to PIX, called Zelle.

"The United States has mechanisms very similar to PIX, for example Zelle, which is the Pix of the United States, here it is Zelle. So you can go to a negotiation table with Americans with good arguments, you can sit down, you can negotiate", he said.

In the eyes of the United States, Pix is cited as one of the reasons for the recommendation of 25% taxation on Brazilian imports, due to investigations under Section 301 of the 1974 American Trade Act.

In the report, the payment method is considered "unfair and discriminatory" against American companies, as it is operated by the same organization that regulates it, the BC, creating a conflict of interests.

The body also accuses the Central Bank of favoring Pix by encouraging its use to the detriment of other services, by requiring participating institutions to offer Pix free of charge to individuals and by limiting the fee charged for transactions.
