I won all the processes, says Fagundes about punctuality in the theater
Far beyond the famous characters he brought to life in Brazilian dramaturgy, Antonio Fagundes is also known for being a staunch defender of punctuality in theater plays.
The 77-year-old actor prohibits anyone arriving late to a show from entering after the doors are closed. The attitude, however, is not well received by the "late ones", who end up causing confusion in the place.
"It's true. There was a lot of confusion. There are few people, but they are noisy, they make noise, they break the theater door, they are rude. I was sued about ten times, but we always end up winning", said the actor in an interview with the newspaper O Globo.

For him, punctuality is the tip of the iceberg, as preparation for a play begins months in advance.
"The care I took with the audience began with choosing the text that I thought would interest a large number of people. I'm not a peacock that's strutting in front of the audience, I have a responsibility. Then, I choose the team, the theater, for which I pay dearly. Then it's months of rehearsals before opening the doors to the public and throwing them into that universe. Then, someone arrives late... I can't let them in!", he added.
Artist has stopped going to the cinema
In the same interview, he said that going to the cinema is becoming boring and he has stopped going to theaters due to the lack of education among spectators.
"It's not even the fact that they keep eating or talking, it's because they're not interested in whoever's next to them. So, I ask myself: "Why don't you just stay at home and talk on your cell phone?". There's no need to disturb others."
Actors complain about cell phone use in the theater
Last year, Matheus Solano had to explain himself after slapping someone's device during the play "O Figurante", in Rio Grande do Sul.
At the time, the actor said that when a person uses a cell phone in the theater, the experience of watching the play is harmed for the entire audience.
"At the beginning of the play, I see the person, I stop everything and say: 'Can you please hang up?' And then I come back and it's a blast. It ruins the business. Then I get upset and it hurts everyone."
After the controversy, he said that what happened served to raise the issue of the public's lack of education: "The limits of one and the other, the limit of the public, the limit of who is on stage."
Miguel Falabella has also complained about the fans' attitudes. In an appearance on the program "É De Casa" in 2025, he defined the use of cell phones by the audience as disrespectful. "People think no one is watching. They have a light on their face," he said.
