"I didn't deserve to lose", says Ancelotti after Brazil's elimination from the World Cup

The Brazilian team said goodbye to the 2026 World Cup this Sunday (5), after the 2-0 defeat to Norway, in the round of 16. After the match, coach Carlo Ancelotti stated that, given the effort shown on the field, the team did not deserve to be eliminated.

"I think that given today's effort they didn't deserve to lose, but we also have to assess that the rival team has, as I said yesterday, very good players, who made the difference", he said at a press conference.

Despite highlighting the wasted opportunities, Ancelotti assessed that, overall, the Seleção played a good game. "I think the game for one half was good. We had a lot of opportunities in the first half. In the second half too, when it was 0-0", he analyzed.

"Obviously we are all deeply sad. Because I think that so far we have not had a special World Cup, but a good World Cup. I also think that, in today's game, we deserved to win."

The coach also valued the experience leading the Brazilian team and highlighted the environment created by the squad during the tournament.

"I think it's an experience. For my part, we are very sad about the result, but it was a beautiful experience, a good group. Thank you to the players who worked well and created a good atmosphere", he said.

Ancelotti, who has a contract with the Seleção until 2030, stated that the elimination will serve as a learning experience and argued that the result marks the beginning of preparations for the next World Cup.

"When a moment like this passes, you have to think that a defeat is the beginning of a new adventure. We have to keep improving, find new ideas. It's not an end. This defeat is the beginning of a new cycle", he concluded.
