Swedish prosecutors are seeking a 10-year prison sentence for a 62-year-old man suspected of sexually exploiting his wife for money. In total, 121 men were investigated for having "bought" sex from the victim's husband.

Most of the sexual encounters were filmed without the suspects knowing. The material was seized and used as evidence in the case.

In Sweden, the statute of limitations for purchasing a sexual service or act is two years.

The Swedish state-owned SVT reported that around 30 suspects have already been indicted for involvement in the prostitution case. However, at least half of those accused will be able to escape formal prosecution or avoid legal proceedings.

According to the indictment, the sale of sex by the victim's husband has been occurring since August 2022, which means that the suspects who paid the husband until mid-2024 may have the crime prescribed.

After being arrested in October 2025, the wife and victim of the crime filed for divorce. The man, accused of aggravated sexual exploitation, eight counts of rape, four attempted rapes, assault and unlawful threats, denies the crimes.

The victim's lawyer, Silvia Ingolfsdottir, said the crime is "the closest you can get to human trafficking."

The accused are from all over the country
The ages of those accused of having bought sex from the victim's husband range from 30 to 70 years old. According to the prosecutor's office, they are spread throughout the country.

One of the defendants was responsible for caring for children placed in foster homes. He told police he did not know that the man he purchased the sexual encounters from was the victim's husband. When questioned by the police, he confessed that he had paid the man more than once and that the meetings with the victim took place just nine days apart.
