Hugo wants to vote on the government's proposal to end 6×1 next week

With the intention of unlocking the agenda of the Chamber of Deputies, the president of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), accelerated the government's project on the end of the 6×1 scale. On Thursday (11), he announced deputy Leo Prates (Republicanos-BA) as rapporteur of the proposal and signaled that he should discuss the project next week.

Since May 30th, the bill has been blocking the Chamber's agenda as it is being processed urgently. Under these conditions, the House plenary can only vote on PECs (proposed amendments to the Constitution), PDLs (Project Legislative Decree) and requests for an emergency regime.

Prates was the rapporteur of the PEC, already approved by the Chamber, which reduces the country's working hours. The parliamentarian was responsible for drafting the text that awaits approval from the Senate to continue being processed in the Legislature.

The Executive project was sent by the government in April, with the aim of putting pressure on Congress to advance the PEC that deals with the same subject. Afterwards, by agreement between Hugo and Palácio do Planalto, it was decided that the text would be used to deal with changes in the journeys of different categories. Now, the details of the differentiated regimes for certain professionals must be left for another proposal.

Prates has already started conversations with the technical team to find a possible solution for the bill. The idea is that the text will be voted on next week to speed up the process and increase pressure on the Senate, which will have two proposals recently analyzed by deputies on reducing working hours.

The Upper House has been blocking the progress of the PEC at the end of the 6×1 since the proposal was dispatched by the Chamber. The government's goal was to vote on the text in the first semester to use as one of the main flags for the electoral campaign.

Hugo's intention is to approve the government's project under the same terms as the PEC, which already received approval from deputies at the end of May.

The PEC approved by the Chamber establishes the reduction of weekly working hours to 40 hours with two days of rest.

The text proposes a 14-month transition to reduce the working day from 44 hours to 40 hours per week in two stages with a reduction of two hours each, without reducing wages. The first will be done 60 days after the text is promulgated. The second will be done 12 months later, totaling 14 months after the promulgation of the new amendment.

In addition to the negotiations around the 6×1 scale, the assessment of the project resolves two of Hugo's focuses for this first semester: releasing the House's agenda to accelerate the PL that regulates AI (Artificial Intelligence) in Brazil and the proposal for an adjustment in the revenue ceiling for MEIs (Individual Microentrepreneurs).
