Hugo to CNN: Nobody wins with BRB going bankrupt

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), said that he does not see anyone benefiting from the collapse of the BRB (Banco Regional de Brasília).

In an interview with CNN Brasil, Hugo stated that he spoke with Celina Leão (PP), and hopes that the governor of the Federal District will be able to talk to the Lula government.

"Perhaps a joint solution can be constructed to avoid what, in my opinion, is a greater evil: the BRB ceasing to operate", stated the president of the Chamber.

Hugo highlighted that he does not think it is good for the financial system if a public bank like BRB is unable to maintain its activities.

"And this wouldn't just be bad for the Federal District, but for the country as a whole", he said.

The President of the Chamber stated that he made contact with some ministers to raise this concern, as he understands that, at this moment, party politics cannot be allowed to impede decisions.

"I think this is the moment when we have to act impartially, institutionally and seeking to do what is right for the country", explained Hugo.
