Corinthians continued, this Friday, with their training schedule during the interseason and reached the ninth consecutive day of activities at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. After the activity, goalkeeper Hugo Souza commented on the training period and highlighted the importance of taking advantage of the moment without games to return strong to the Brazilian Championship.
"This is the time now, we have to be tired every day, we have to train, we have to recover our physical condition as quickly as possible and we have been trying as hard as possible. We have been doing good training, we have managed to reach the physical levels we need, we have also managed to implement everything the teacher wants within this, so we are also very happy during this period to be able to return, to be able to be in our daily lives again, I missed it and now is the time to bleed a little so that we can come back as best as possible", said the Corinthian archer.

Afterwards, Hugo Souza also spoke about the milestone of two years wearing the Corinthians shirt, achieved last Thursday, 2nd. The 27-year-old goalkeeper celebrated the feat and commented on the importance of Alvinegro Paulista not only in his career, but also in his personal life.
"Two years since I arrived here at this club, two incredible years, I think two years that changed my life, two years that made me achieve things and when I talk about things, not just titles, but I talk about things in my personal life, respect, affection, admiration from people, I think that's the most important thing, I think that looking out there and seeing that these fans have that for me is really important to me", said the player.
"So I'm very happy to have completed this important milestone and here's to more titles, more years and if God wants us to continue being very happy here with this shirt at this club that I arrived in one way and I am today in another way, so I'm very happy for everything I'm achieving here", he added.
Despite being made official by Corinthians on July 2, 2024, Hugo Souza had to wait a few days to play his first game for the club. The debut took place on July 16, in the triumph over Criciúma in the Brazilian Championship. In a short time, the goalkeeper established himself among the starters and fell in favor with the black and white fans.
The good performance led the board to exercise the purchase option with Flamengo. With the help of the master sponsor, Esportes da Sorte, Corinthians disbursed 800 thousand euros - around R$ 4.8 million at the time - to guarantee the permanent stay of the archer.
Since then, number 1 has built a prominent career at Parque São Jorge. To date, he has played 123 games for Timão, with 58 wins, 35 draws and 30 defeats, in addition to being an important player in winning the Campeonato Paulista and the 2025 Copa do Brasil, as well as the 2026 Supercup of Brazil.
Another factor that reinforced Hugo's identification with the fans was his performance in the penalty shootouts. Since arriving at the club, the goalkeeper has already saved 14 penalties, a mark that places him in third place among the athletes who took the most penalties in Corinthians' history.
The great performances even fueled the expectation of a call-up to the Brazilian team for the World Cup. However, the goalkeeper's name ended up being left out of the final list drawn up by coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Currently, Hugo Souza remains involved in the interseason work at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, under the command of Fernando Diniz. Before the official return to the pitch for the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians will have a friendly match against FC Cascavel, scheduled for July 12th, at 4pm, at the Estádio Olímpico Regional, in Cascavel, Paraná.
