Hugo says he sought out ministers at Celina's request in favor of help for BRB

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), told CNN Brasil this Tuesday (26) that he had approached ministers from the federal government in favor of aid to the BRB (Bank of Brasília).

He defended that the Executive and the governor of the Federal District, Celina Leal (PP), seek a joint solution to maintain the bank's activities and financial sustainability.

"I made contact with ministers, raising this concern because I understand that at these times we cannot let party politics prevail. I think this is the time when we have to act impartially, institutionally and seeking to do what is right for the country", he said.

According to him, it is not good for the financial system and, in general, for the country if a public bank fails. BRB faces a crisis caused by fraudulent financial operations signed with Banco Master.

"Who wins if the BRB goes bankrupt? I don't know. I don't think anyone wins. I only see who loses. Because of this, I have always argued that through dialogue we can find a solution to this problem", said Hugo.

Hugo said he was a "friend" of Celina Leão, who was a deputy before taking on management positions in the DF government. According to him, it is "natural" for state and municipal heads to turn to the president of the Chamber in search of dialogue.

"I spoke to Governor Celina about the BRB situation, I spoke to some government ministers to raise a concern, which is a personal concern of mine", he said.
