How the US media reported the classification of CV and PCC as terrorists

Communiqué from the American government states that factions will be designated as "specially designated global terrorists"
The United States government announced this Thursday (28) that it will classify the Brazilian factions Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and Comando Vermelho (CV) as terrorist organizations. The information had repercussions in the North American press.
The announcement was made in the same week that Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) met with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
When announcing the measure, the US stated that CV and PCC are among "the most violent criminal organizations in Brazil" and said that the groups "command thousands of members" and are responsible for "attacks brutal attacks" against police officers, public and civilian authorities.
American outlets highlighted possible political, economic and diplomatic impacts of the decision. Furthermore, the US press also reported the Brazilian government's fear that the measure would open space for sanctions and questions about sovereignty.

The Associated Press agency highlighted that the classification of the PCC and Comando Vermelho as terrorist organizations occurs on the eve of the Brazilian presidential contest. The report also recalled Lula's criticism of the measure, seen by the president as external interference.
"Lula, who is seeking re-election and trying to reinforce his credentials in the fight against crime, openly opposed the classification of criminals as terrorists, while Bolsonaro's supporters in Congress publicly urged Trump to adopt more energetic measures against gangs", says the text.
The report also states that public security should gain importance in the presidential election. According to AP, experts assess that neither Jair Bolsonaro nor Lula had great success in combating the two criminal groups.

The conservative channel Newsmax highlighted that the Brazilian factions will receive two different classifications from the USA: Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

The report also states that the measure could generate uncertainty in the country's financial system, while banks and companies try to understand the practical impacts of classifying the factions as terrorist organizations.
