How the fact that Rafael Nadal was a prodigy helped the Netflix series
The viewer who plays the series "Rafa", which arrives on Netflix this Friday (29), will probably be impressed by the quality and depth of the archive material about Rafael Nadal to which the documentary's production team had access.
The director of the attraction himself, American Zach Heinzerling, said in an exclusive chat with CNN Brasil that he was impressed by the abundance of images, which ended up becoming one of the challenges of the job.
"The first challenge was that there was an immense amount of archive material. Rafa had been playing since 2006 and practically everything was recorded. Every match, every press conference", quoted the filmmaker.
"When you make older documentaries, you normally look for whatever material is available. In this case it was the opposite. The most valuable material was his very young one", he continued.

Tennis prodigy in high definition
Although the series "Rafa" starts from Nadal's last season as a professional tennis player, the narrative in four episodes goes through different moments in the glorious career of the "King of Clay", including his first steps in the sport.
The viewer will come across Nadal as a child, but with images in very high definition, almost like a technological miracle promoted by the production of the documentary.
"We had the advantage that Rafa was already extremely talented since he was a child. So there were interviews of him when he was eight or nine years old, showing an innocent, unfiltered version," commented Heinzerling.
I think the most interesting part of the series is when Rafa, still a boy, is asked: "You just won a big tournament, how do you feel?" And he responds something like, "Winning this tournament doesn't mean you'll be very good. You have to keep working." That's exactly the mantra he learned from his uncle Toni. So, you can see how his mentality was built from a very early age.
