Have you ever imagined what you would do with R$898.28 million per year? This was the amount allocated to the British monarchy in the 2025-26 fiscal year, according to Sovereign Grant's financial report.
Considering the pound's exchange rate at R$6.80, the public subsidy totaled £132.1 million. The resources were used to pay for the official activities of the Royal Household and the renovation of Buckingham Palace.

Of the total, £72.1 million (R$490.3 million) was allocated to the Royal Household's regular expenses, while £60 million (R$408 million) financed the Buckingham Palace modernization program.
The report states that the temporary increase in the subsidy was approved to facilitate the renovation of the palace, considered urgent due to the conditions of the electrical, hydraulic and heating infrastructure.
According to the document, these Systems had not undergone complete modernization since the period after the Second World War, which increased the risk of serious failures, such as fires and floods.

Spending on properties and maintenance represented the largest expense of the period. According to the report, £67.5 million (R$459 million) was disbursed.
Of this total, £28.2 million (R$191.76 million) corresponds to the maintenance and conservation of the palaces occupied by the royal family, while £39.3 million (R$267.4 million) was allocated to the Buckingham renovation program.
The project received initial approval of £369 million (R$2.5 billion) and, according to the document, will have its final funding in 2026-27.
The Royal House's payroll totaled £37 million (R$251.6 million) in the year. Of this total, £33.7 million (R$191.76 million) was allocated to salaries, and £3.3 million (R$22.44 million) to other employee-related costs.
The report states that the Royal Household employed, on average, 563 full-time staff during the period. The official trips of the king and other members of the royal family who carry out institutional functions cost £3.3 million.
