How many Brasileirão players went to the World Cup? See history

Brazilian football will have a record number of players playing in the country at this year's World Cup. Something common in the first editions, the number fell from the 90s onwards, reaching its worst number in 2010, with only six athletes called up.

The number of 32 representatives surpassed the 1974 World Cup, when 27 players were called up. In World Cups hosted in Brazil, the number in 2014 was half of what it was in 1950.

The World Cup will be held in three countries for the first time: the United States, Canada and Mexico. The ball starts on June 11th, with Mexico x South Africa opening the World Cup at the Azteca Stadium, in Mexico City. The grand final takes place on July 19th at MetLife Stadium, in the United States.
