How long do you spend on the internet? Average in Brazil exceeds 50 years and surpasses Mexico and Korea
Internet shopping has a variety of prices and products, but you need to be careful
Over the years, the internet became popular and gave rise to websites, social networks and other platforms that changed people's lives. In Brazil, a user spends, on average, 52 years, 9 months and 16 days of their life connected online.
Considering the life expectancy of 76 years, this means that more than 68% of their life is spent online. The data comes from the NordVPN survey, released in April this year and carried out with more than 20 thousand users from 20 countries
Brazil leads the ranking and surpasses countries such as Mexico, Lithuania, Australia, Sweden and South Korea. At the other end of the list is Japan, where residents spend, on average, 19 years, 6 months and 29 days connected to the internet throughout their lives.

Brazilians spend 11 more years on the internet since the last World Cup
The study also compared the results of 2026 with those of 2022, the year of the last World Cup, when Brazil was eliminated by Croatia in the quarter-finals, after losing 4-2 on penalties.
The data shows that the average time of Brazilians' online lives increased by 11 years in this period, the biggest growth among the countries analyzed. Next comes Japan, with an increase of nine years, and Sweden, with eight years.
Some countries have already registered a reduction in the average time spent on the internet. This is the case of South Korea (-5 years), Italy (-5 years), France (-5 years) and Germany (-1 year).
What do Brazilians share on the internet?
In addition to time of use, the research investigated what personal information users tend to disclose online.
Among Brazilians, 63% say they share their address and relationship status, the highest proportion among the countries analyzed. The date of birth is disclosed by 78% of those interviewed.
The survey also shows that cell phones are the main means of accessing the internet. In Brazil, 91% of respondents use their smartphones to navigate, the highest percentage in the survey. The country also leads in the use of computers and notebooks to access the internet at work, cited by 38% of participants.
