How does it work and what are the benefits of Good Driver registration?
Drivers who maintain a history free of traffic violations can join the RNPC (National Positive Driver Registry). The system, managed by Senatran (National Traffic Secretariat), works as a type of positive registration for the CNH and allows drivers to have access to benefits offered by public bodies and partner companies.
Among the advantages of having an RNPC, a good driver can guarantee discounts on taxes, insurance and vehicle rental. Furthermore, positive registration has come to the fore in recent months for granting an 'automatic' renewal of the driver's license, which in practice is not that automatic.
The proposal was incorporated into Brazilian traffic legislation and regulated by the National Traffic Council (Contran). The RNPC brings together drivers who have spent at least 12 months without registering traffic violations. Participation is voluntary and depends on the driver's authorization.
How to obtain the RNPC (National Positive Driver Registry)
Registration can be carried out through the Brazilian CNH application (Former Digital Traffic Card) or through the Senatran Services Portal. After joining, the system automatically checks whether the driver meets the criteria required to join the database.

To be part of the program, you must have a valid CNH (National Driving License) and not have committed any traffic violation in the last 12 months. Once these requirements are met, the driver receives the Good Driver seal, which serves as proof of their eligibility for the benefits offered.
The legislation allows private companies and public bodies to offer incentives to participants, expanding the reach of the program. In Mato Grosso do Sul, for example, drivers registered with the RNPC can obtain a 10% discount when renewing their driver's license, adding a category and changing the license category.
The initiative also provides compensation for participating companies. Organizations that join the program and offer benefits to registered drivers receive the "Good Driver Partner" seal, which can be used in institutional campaigns and communication actions.
Another feature associated with a good traffic record is the automatic renewal of the driver's license in certain situations. The procedure uses information from Senatran's national database to update the document digitally. However, the text approved by Congress determines that the medical examination will remain mandatory upon renewal.
When renewal occurs automatically, the new license is available in a digital version, with no issuance fee charged. Anyone who wants a printed version of the document must request a duplicate from the Detran in their state and pay the corresponding costs.
