The luxury Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai will close during a major 18-month renovation, an employee confirmed to the Reuters news agency on Wednesday (15).

The An employee interviewed by Reuters anonymously reported that the hotel is offering alternative accommodation in nearby hotels to guests booked during the construction period, and that the closure period is subject to change.

According to the employee, the work has been "long awaited" and the company decided to take advantage of the drop in tourism in the region, due to the war between the United States and Israel against Iran, to get it off the ground.
In March, debris from an intercepted Iranian drone attack hit the hotel's facade, which caught fire.
Parisian interior architect Tristan Auer was chosen to lead the renovation, according to the statement issued by Jumeirah, which is based in the United Arab Emirates.
