Iran's main negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who also holds the position of president of Parliament, said on Wednesday (8) that the Strait of Hormuz can only be opened with Iranian agreements, not American threats.

Ghalibaf's statement comes after a new round of US attacks on Iranian cities.

"America has not yet learned that bullying and breaking promises are no longer costless. Let me be clear: hit, and you will be beaten.

Don't struggle uselessly, as you will sink even further: the Strait of Hormuz only opens with "Iranian agreements", not with American threats."

New US offensive
Late this Wednesday afternoon, CENTCOM (US Central Command) reported that the United States military was carrying out new attacks against Iran.

The offensive came hours after US President Donald Trump declared that the interim agreement to end the war with Iran had "ended".

"The United States holds Iran responsible for recent unwarranted aggression against commercial ships and civilian crews sailing freely in a vital international waterway," Central Command wrote.

Hours after the American offensive, Middle Eastern countries, including Kuwait and Bahrain, reported warning sirens and rocket and drone attacks.

Why is the Strait of Hormuz so important to the world economy?
