Honda Accord Advanced Hybrid: discover eight interesting facts about the luxury sedan

The Honda Accord is one of the longest-lasting models on the Brazilian market. The sedan, in fact, was the first car imported by Honda in Brazil, and this happened in 1992. Since then, a lot has changed, but the Accord has always remained luxurious and technological.

Now, more than 30 years old (in the Brazilian market), the large sedan has started to adopt electrification in the system. Thus, the Honda Accord Advanced Hybrid is one of the Japanese brand's models to combine combustion and electricity - present in the car since 2021.

The CNN Brasil report tested the Honda Accord for around 10 days and, during the period, we covered more than 400 kilometers in urban areas, to understand the behavior of the hybrid system, test the average consumption and discover interesting facts about the car.

In 2023, when it received the last change, the Accord received direct fuel injection and started to deliver superior performance compared to the previous generation.

In this 11th generation, the look is perhaps one of the sedan's greatest highlights. Driving with it on the streets, several people stopped to turn their heads and, amazingly: we were applauded a few times.

Inside the luxury car, the feeling is that life is calmer, calmer. The world seems to spin more slowly. A lower driving position, improved noise insulation and a steering wheel with precise delivery put the driver in a position of control.

All this control is a reflection of the pleasure of driving. Honda knew how to do this masterfully in the Accord Hybrid.

Performance and structure
In terms of mechanics, the large sedan has a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that generates 146 hp of power and 19.2 kgfm of torque.

With two electric motors (one for traction and the other for power generation), the power of the traction powertrain reaches 184 hp and 34.1 kgm of torque. The brand does not disclose the combined numbers.

The reality is that little can be heard of the engine operating, with the exception of a stronger press on the accelerator pedal. The e:HEV system has three operating modes: EV Drive (100% electric), Hybrid Drive (electric and combustion) and Engine Drive (combustion only).

In 2023, the body underwent a suspension review, which remains MacPherson strut at the front and multilink at the rear. The objective was to achieve greater smoothness without losing the car's good handling.

Practically speaking, a new type of column bearing was applied to the front shock absorbers, in addition to new spherical joints, which resulted in a friction reduction of approximately 33%. The track at the rear was increased by 10 mm and new suspension bushings were adopted.

Low fuel consumption
Average consumption in the city is one of the car's strong points. In our tests, after a stretch of practically 100 kilometers, the Accord recorded an average of 19.5 km/l on the instrument panel.

Bose premium sound
The car's sound system is from the Bose brand and has 12 speakers spread throughout the cabin. The sound has great fidelity and good bass distributed throughout the Accord's interior.

Electric mode button
EV Drive mode is focused on 100% electric driving. To activate, you need to have a certain level of battery accumulated in the system.

Despite this, there is no need to remember to activate the button, as the switching between them happens smoothly and automatically, according to variables such as topography, accelerator activation, energy level in the batteries.

The e:HEV system has three operating modes: EV Drive (100% electric), Hybrid Drive (electric and combustion) and Engine Drive (combustion only).

No induction ventilation
Despite being a car costing more than R$330,000, the induction charger does not have air conditioning for the smartphone. After some time, the cell phone may heat up and, in addition to reducing the charge for safety reasons, this may interfere with mirroring with the multimedia screen.

Manual roof curtain
Another flaw of the sedan is that the sunroof curtain has manual opening. For the price, it deserved a 100% electric opening.

No 360º camera
The Honda Accord has only two cameras in the external area. One on the right side on the rear view mirror for the Lane Watch and one on the trunk lid.

As a result, there is no 360º projection. Considering the size of the sedan, it should have this feature to help with parking and not crashing in tight spaces.

No automatic trunk
Despite not being a place with continuous access, a car of this level deserved an electric trunk lid activation. This could increase the delivery value of the sedan that values luxury and comfort.
