Holiday July 9: PM Rodoviária increases inspection on SP highways

During the long holiday of the 1932 Constitutionalist Revolution, celebrated this Thursday (9) in São Paulo, the Military Highway Police will reinforce policing on the state's main highways. More than 32 million vehicles will pass through the state roads to enjoy the four days of rest.

The special operation will focus on regions with a greater flow of vehicles, mainly tourist areas in the winter of São Paulo, such as Campos de Jordão and Serra Negra, both in Serra da Mantiqueira.

The action will continue until Sunday (12), with reinforcement in road inspection using cameras and vehicles positioned in strategic locations, mainly at the beginning and end of the holiday, in addition to policing at night, when there is a greater chance of drivers driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police officers will intensify attention to infractions that cause the risk of serious accidents, such as:

- speeding;
- drunk driving;
- using a cell phone while driving and;
- not wearing a seat belt.

The corporation also warns drivers to take extra care when driving with the low temperatures predicted for the next few days, which could cause fog on the road.

If there is difficulty in visibility of the landscape, police officers recommend reducing speed and finding a safe place to wait for the weather conditions to improve before continuing your journey, such as gas stations.

PM Rodoviária also recommends that drivers take breaks during long journeys as a way to avoid falling asleep at the wheel, one of the factors that most contributes to accidents on the roads.

Know what time to travel
The DER-SP (Road Department of the State of São Paulo), which manages some sections of São Paulo's highways, warns that, to avoid traffic on the roads, drivers should prioritize the following times:

- Thursday (9): from 0am to 7am and from 9pm to midnight;
- Friday (10): from 0am to 2pm and from 10pm to midnight;
- Saturday (11): from 0am to 7am and from 9pm to midnight and;
- Sunday (12): from 0am to 7am and from 9pm to midnight.
