Historic Kiev monastery goes up in flames after Russian attack

A prominent Ukrainian monastery complex in the heart of Kiev is on fire after a massive Russian attack overnight on Sunday (14), which left more than a dozen injured in the capital, according to local authorities.

Images showed flames shooting from the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, which has origins dating back nearly 1,000 years, following the attack, which injured at least 18 people across the city, according to mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

A CNN journalist in Kiev reported hearing several explosions.
