Highlight of the World Cup, Paraguay goalkeeper enters Manchester United's sights

Manchester United has placed goalkeeper Orlando Gill, one of the highlights of Paraguay's World Cup campaign, among its targets to reinforce the squad for next season.

According to BBC Sport, the English club was convinced by the 26-year-old player's performances at the World Cup and is considering opening negotiations with San Lorenzo, from Argentina.

According to the publication, the Argentine club's board agrees to negotiate the archer for a value between 5 and 8 million pounds (around R$34.5 million to R$55 million). To date, however, no official proposal has been presented.

The move comes at an important time for United, who will compete in the Uefa Champions League next season. Although Lammens was the starter in the last campaign, the goalkeeper has not yet achieved consensus within the club, which led the board to look for alternatives to increase competition for the position.

Gill drew attention during the World Cup for his confident interventions, reflexes in one-on-one moves and regularity under pressure. His performances for Paraguay made the goalkeeper gain international recognition and arouse the interest of European clubs.

Manchester United, however, is not alone in the dispute. According to BBC Sport, Torino and Lazio, from Italy, are also monitoring the player's situation and are studying an attack in the coming weeks. The expectation is that competition will increase if San Lorenzo receives the first formal offers.

For the Argentine club, Orlando Gill has played 59 games, with 44 goals conceded and 29 games without being conceded. For the Paraguayan national team, he played 11 matches, conceded 13 goals and finished four of them without being beaten.
