Hezbollah broadcaster says group is evaluating US truce proposal

Al Manar broadcaster, belonging to Hezbollah, reported this Tuesday (2) that the group had received two ceasefire proposals from the United States to end fighting with Israel, confirming that it is analyzing one of them.

In the report, Al Manar stated that Hezbollah rejected the first proposal, which, according to the broadcaster, came from the American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.

The Lebanese broadcaster noted that the group is discussing the second proposal presented by Donald Trump on Monday (1st).

The first proposal provided that Israel would not attack the Dahieh district of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, in exchange for the group not attacking Israel, Al Manar reported.

After Hezbollah rejected this offer and threatened to continue attacking Israel, the United States proposed that if the group did not attack the country, Israel would not attack Dahieh for several days.

The broadcaster suggested that the second proposal envisages a "full and inclusive ceasefire" that would come into effect after 48 to 72 hours, which would presumably also cover southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah is in communication with the Lebanese government and insists on an "inclusive ceasefire", the media outlet reported.

Israeli and Lebanese officials met earlier today for high-level talks at the US State Department in Washington.
