Henry Borel: Jairinho's defense points to betrayal as the origin of the case

The defense of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, stated, this Wednesday (3), during the trial for the death of Henry Borel, that the origin of the entire accusation against the former councilor would be linked to an alleged betrayal involving Monique Medeiros, Jairinho and Leniel Borel.

According to the lawyers, a call identified as "Love" on Monique's cell phone would have revealed her relationship with Jairinho. From this, the defense maintained that Leniel had found an opportunity to harm the former councilor and hold him responsible for subsequent events.

During the argument, the lawyers also mentioned an accident involving Henry when the child was in Leniel's care. According to the narrative presented, a witness named Miriam would have stated that Leniel commented on an accident that occurred during an app race.

Another point highlighted was the allegation that the child had complained of a headache after the episode. The defense stated that Leniel never reported this information, despite the fact that, according to the narrative presented, he looked for a pharmacy around four times.

Another point discussed was the contestation of the version presented by Leniel about having spent the night with his son. According to the defense, messages exchanged between him and Monique would indicate that this did not happen.

The trial for the death of Henry Borel entered its final phase on Wednesday night (3). According to CNN Brasil's investigation at the scene, the jury was, at around 8pm, in the defense rejoinder stage.

First the defense of Monique Medeiros speaks and, next, that of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior. This phase is expected to end around 10pm. After that, the sentencing council must meet to vote on the questions, when it will be decided whether the sentence will be issued this Wednesday or only in the early hours of Thursday (4).
