Henry Borel: "It seems like I'm in a parallel universe", says judge in session
The judge responsible for the trial of Henry Borel's death, Elizabeth Machado Louro, stated that she seemed to be in a "parallel universe" during the session at the II Rio de Janeiro Jury Court, this Tuesday (26).
The statement came after more than nine hours of hearing from Civil Police Chief Henrique Damasceno, responsible for the initial investigation of the case.
During questions from the defense of former councilor Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, made by lawyer Zanone Júnior, the judge interrupted the session and commented:
"It seems like I'm in a parallel universe, at a time like this and you're discussing the utmost importance?", said the judge.
By the time of the interruption, the delegate had already answered questions from the Public Prosecutor's Office. Afterwards, he began to be questioned by Jairinho's defense. Monique Medeiros' defense must still begin questioning.
Earlier, Damasceno stated in testimony that the version presented by the defendants after Henry's death was a "rehearsed farce".
According to the delegate, testimonies and technical evidence pointed to differences in the narrative initially presented by the accused.
The jury should last between seven and ten days, according to the Public Ministry. Jairinho and Monique are charged with triple homicide, torture, procedural fraud and coercion during the process.
Routine of assaults and expert reports
The investigation conducted by the Civil Police showed that Henry was subjected to a routine of assaults and torture carried out by his stepfather.
In one of the reported episodes, Jairinho allegedly locked the boy in a room, and the child was heard shouting "I promise". Afterwards, the child allegedly claimed that he "fell out of bed".

The report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) identified 23 injuries on the victim's body, with the cause of death being internal bleeding and liver laceration caused by blunt force.
According to the delegate, these results make the hypothesis of a domestic accident, supported by the defense, technically impossible.
