Henry Borel case trial resumes; jury is the longest in RJ
The trial of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, known as Jairinho, and Monique Medeiros, for the death of the boy Henry Borel, just four years old, was resumed and reached the eighth consecutive day on the morning of this Monday (1st).
On Sunday (31), the jury broke a historic record, when it became the longest in Rio de Janeiro in 18 years, surpassing that of former deputy Flordelis dos Santos de Souza. The brand takes into account the Criminal Procedure Code, which changed the rules of the Jury Court in 2008.
A point of convergence between the two cases is the presence of lawyer Rodrigo Faucz, who was part of the former parliamentarian's defense and is now part of Jairinho's group of representatives.

How was the 7th day
The seventh day of the jury, held on Sunday (31), was marked by the testimony of nanny Thayná de Oliveira Ferreira.
During the hearing, she stated that she was instructed by Monique to delete messages and omit information after the child's death, which occurred in March 2021. The witness also reported situations that she considered suspicious involving Jairinho and Henry.
According to Thayná, on at least three occasions, the former councilor took the boy to a room, remained alone with him for some time and, afterwards, the child complained of pain.
The nanny also stated that, in some of these episodes, there were loud sounds in the room or total silence in the room.
According to Thayná's testimony, Henry would have had headaches after some of these situations and, when questioned, he would say that he had fallen out of bed or that he could not talk about what happened. On one occasion, he explained that, after the period he spent in the closed room with Jairinho, Henry came out limping.
Also according to Thayná, all these situations were communicated to Monique, through messages, calls or face-to-face conversations and that Monique found out from Henry himself who, on one occasion, said in a video call that his "uncle" (referring to Jairinho) had hit him.
To CNN Brasil, Thayná's lawyer, Juliana Nascimento, added that after the boy's death, the nanny and maid were called to a law firm, where she was coerced by Monique to lie. According to Juliana, the boy's mother told Thayná to delete the messages and say that the "family lived in harmony".
Interrogation of defendants and final debates
After the conclusion of the hearings of all witnesses, the procedural rite provides for the interrogation of Jairinho and Monique Medeiros. This will be the moment when the defendants will be able to present their versions of the events that occurred in March 2021.

Jairinho is accused of being the perpetrator of the attacks that resulted in 23 injuries and the boy's death, while Monique is charged with homicide by omission, under the thesis that she was aware of the attacks and did not act to prevent them.
Once the interrogations are over, the trial enters the phase of oral debates between the Public Prosecutor's Office and the defense lawyers. The final decision will be made by the Sentencing Council, made up of seven jurors, who will vote to convict or acquit the defendants.
In case of conviction with a sentence of more than 15 years, the Court may order the immediate arrest of the accused while still in plenary.
