Henry Borel case: trial continues this Sunday with nanny's testimony
The trial of Henry Borel's death will continue this Sunday (31), at the II Rio de Janeiro Jury Court, with testimony from nanny Thayná Ferreira expected. This is the seventh day of judgment.
According to CNN Brasil, lawyer Juliana Nascimento, who represents the witness in the jury, Thayná should be the first person heard when the session resumes this Sunday.
Saturday was marked by the testimony of Bryan Medeiros da Costa e Silva, brother of Monique Medeiros. During the hearing, he stated that a lawyer linked to the defense of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior had tried to guide Monique to support a false version of the case.
The schedule of pending deponents includes strategic names indicated by the legal panels of both defendants.
The professional worked in the couple's apartment and, according to investigations, alerted Monique Medeiros via cell phone messages about attacks carried out by Jairinho a month before the death.
Monique Medeiros' brother alleged that lawyer André França, linked to Jairinho, had "trained" Monique to lie after the child's death.
According to Bryan, the guidance given was for Monique to state that Jairinho was sleeping at the time of the crime. The witness also stated that the sister was against this narrative because "she would have to lie".

Throughout the testimony, Bryan also reported episodes that, according to him, demonstrated Jairinho's controlling behavior towards Monique. He stated that the former councilor was excessively jealous, monitored his then partner and even made her suspect that her cell phone was tapped.
Bryan also said that Monique later revealed that she had suffered physical aggression from her ex-partner. According to the report, Jairinho arrived home drunk after an event and woke her up by hanging her out of jealousy.
The session should also continue on Sunday (31). On Friday (29), during the fifth day of the trial, Jairinho left the plenary session shortly before Leniel's testimony began.
During the questions, Leniel spoke about his last weekend with his son and the moment Henry joined his mother. "It was wonderful, if it weren't so tragic," he said.
He detailed that the separation between him and Monique had occurred about six months before Henry's death. The woman lived with Jairinho for about a month and a half, when the child died.
Interrogation of defendants and final debates
After the conclusion of the hearings of all witnesses, the procedural rite provides for the interrogation of Jairinho and Monique Medeiros. This will be the moment when the defendants will be able to present their versions of the events that occurred in March 2021.

Jairinho is accused of being the perpetrator of the attacks that resulted in 23 injuries and the boy's death, while Monique is charged with homicide by omission, under the thesis that she was aware of the attacks and did not act to prevent them.

Once the interrogations are over, the trial enters the phase of oral debates between the Public Prosecutor's Office and the defense lawyers. The final decision will be made by the Sentencing Council, made up of seven jurors, who will vote to convict or acquit the defendants.
In case of conviction with a sentence of more than 15 years, the Court may order the immediate arrest of the accused while still in plenary.
