Henry Borel case: Second day of jury for Jairo and Monique begins

The II Jury Court of Rio de Janeiro resumed, at around 9:45 am this Tuesday (26), the trial of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Dr. Jairinho, and Monique Medeiros. The former councilor and his former partner are accused of the death of the boy Henry Borel.

On the second day of the trial, delegates Henrique Damasceno, head of the investigation at the time, and Ana Carolina Medeiros, as well as criminal expert Luiz Carlos Prestes, will be heard by the jurors.

Delay on the first day and accusations
This Monday (25), the session was suspended around 5pm without any witnesses being heard.

The delay occurred after the defendant Jairinho tried to dismiss his defense, retreating from the decision only after the Public Prosecutor's Office requested his transfer to the Bangu 1 maximum security prison.

The defendants are responsible for triple homicide, torture, coercion and procedural fraud.

The fate of Jairinho and Monique will be decided by seven jurors who make up the Sentencing Council.

The prosecutor's estimate is that the trial will last up to ten days.
