Henry Borel case: lawyer announces return to Jairinho's defense

Lawyer Fabiano Lopes, who had suffered a heart attack last Saturday (23), needing to withdraw from the defense of former councilor Dr. Jairinho, Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, in the trial for the death of Henry Borel, announced, this Tuesday (26), that he has left the hospital where he was hospitalized and that he intends to return to the former councilor's defense panel.

Fabiano Lopes, in contact with CNN Brasil, pointed out that he signed the term by default and assumed the risk of liability.

"I have three private doctors taking care of me. My blood pressure has not yet stabilized, but when it stabilizes I return to the plenary session, even at risk of death," he said.

The lawyer is still in the process because he is the leader of the panel and understands all the peripheral processes of the case.

"I'm going to take the risk, I have a moral responsibility and with Jairo in this process, I'm the only one who dominates the peripheral processes and I'm the leader of the entire panel. But coming back still depends on private doctors", he points out.

Accusations and context of the crime
Jairinho and his ex-wife, Monique Medeiros, are on trial for the death of Henry Borel, aged 4, which occurred in March 2021. Both face charges of triple homicide, torture, coercion during the process and procedural fraud.

According to the IML report, the child suffered 23 injuries and died from internal bleeding caused by blunt action, discarding the initial version of a domestic accident presented by the defendants.
