Hemorio offers transportation and discounts for blood donors

Hemorio presents, throughout the week, the fourth edition of the Rota Solidária campaign. The action, which runs until Friday (19), offers free transport and discounts for anyone donating blood.

The State Institute of Hematology, Hemorio, is located on Rua Frei Caneca, in the center of Rio, and to participate simply inform the unit of the means of transport used to get to the location. Thus, the participant will receive the equivalent of two tickets to cover travel costs.

According to the organization, the campaign guarantees the benefit to all people who donate, regardless of whether they are considered eligible or not after clinical screening.

The objective is to maintain stock and eliminate any barriers, one of the most common for donations is traveling to the unit.

A total of 3,200 freebies will be available to participants.

The blood collected by Hemorio supplies more than 100 hospital units in the state and helps care for patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatments, transplants, as well as victims of accidents and other medical emergencies.

Who can donate?
People between 16 and 69 years old, weighing at least 50 kg, in good health and carrying an official photo identification document can donate. Young people aged 16 and 17 must present authorization from their legal guardians, in addition to an identification document from the guardian.

It is not necessary to be fasting. Pregnant women, breastfeeding women and drug users cannot donate blood.
