Heat wave advances towards eastern Europe

The extreme heat wave that began to hit Europe last week is now advancing towards the east of the continent, raising the temperature in countries such as Czechia and Hungary.

Temperatures in Prague, the capital of Czechia, soared, reaching 37°C, on Friday (26) and this Saturday (27).

This Saturday (27), the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute issued heat warnings for all of Czechia, with a maximum level red alert in effect for Prague and much of the country.

The forecast was that temperatures would rise even further next Sunday (28).

Temperatures soared in Budapest on Saturday (27) as Europe's record-breaking heatwave reached Hungary.

Still on Saturday, temperatures were already in the upper 30°C range and the forecast was for them to exceed 40°C in the following days.

Hungary's meteorological service has issued heat warnings for the entire country, including red alerts (the highest level) for much of the central region, including Budapest.

In the center of Budapest, tourists cooled off in misting systems installed outside the Hungarian Parliament.
