"He filmed his own death", says witness of 'rope jump' accident in SP

The 24-year-old woman who died while practicing a "rope jump" activity on the Ponte do Esqueleto Trail, in Limeira, in the interior of São Paulo, this Saturday morning (13), filmed her own death after being launched without any safety equipment, as reported by a witness to CNN Brasil.

According to Nayra Freitas, an accounting assistant who was there accompanying the groom who was going to perform the jump, the activity cost R$290 and included a recording made with a camera from the company that offers the service. In the images of the case, it is possible to see that the young woman who died was holding the equipment in her right hand.

According to Freitas, who witnessed three other jumps made moments before the accident, the company responsible for the activity is Entre Cordas. On Instagram, their page has more than 80 thousand followers. CNN Brasil tries to contact the company, but has not yet received a response.

People who were at the scene filmed the fall. In the video, you can hear them screaming when they saw that the young woman was being launched without the rope. "It was irresponsible on the part of the team. They didn't check the rope. It wasn't simply an accident. It was the basics", says Freitas.

According to the witness, the instructors remained motionless when they realized that the young woman had been thrown without the equipment, and then tried to leave the scene, but the police were already responding to the incident.

Also according to her, the Entre Cordas page on the networks was deleted while the other customers were on the bridge, and a group that had been created on WhatsApp to gather information about the activity was blocked.

The Military Police and Fire Department are responding to the incident, which is still ongoing. The corporation did not confirm whether anyone was arrested following the case. The case is being registered by the Civil Police.

After the young woman fell, people at the scene performed CPR maneuvers until the SAMU team arrived. But the death was confirmed at the scene due to polytrauma.
