Haven't declared yet? See how to send IR in record time
Publicidade

With the 2026 Income Tax (IR) deadline approaching the end - the end date is May 29 -, many taxpayers still have doubts about how to organize the documents, choose the correct model and send the declaration without error to the Federal Revenue Service. Anyone who received taxable income above R$35,584 in 2025, carried out operations on the stock exchange, had assets above R$800 thousand or received exempt income above R$200 thousand, among other rules, must declare income tax using the IRS program.

Taxpayers who file after the deadline are subject to a minimum fine of R$ 165.74, in addition to the risk of having their CPF pending regularization, which could make financing, issuing a passport and other financial transactions difficult.

How to declare Income Tax faster?
To speed up the process, the first step is to gather all the documents before filling them out. This reduces the chance of error, avoids interruptions and speeds up submission of the declaration. The main documents required:

- ID, CPF and proof of residence
- Statement from the previous year
- Income reports from banks and companies
- Bank and investment statements
- Proof of medical and educational expenses
- Private pension reports
- Dependent data
- Proof of purchase and sale of goods

Those who have a digital account or investments in financial institutions can access income reports directly through the institutions' applications and platforms.

Inter makes the income report available directly through the application. The document can be accessed and downloaded in a few clicks, without the need for a phone call or in-person assistance, which significantly reduces the time it takes to prepare the declaration.

Most practical way to send the declaration
The process can be done via computer, cell phone or tablet. The procedure is digital and can be carried out through the Federal Revenue program or through the official application available for Android and iOS. To speed up filling even further, it is worth using:

- Pre-filled declaration from the Federal Revenue Service
- Import of the previous year's declaration
- Bank details already registered
- Digital reports sent by financial institutions

Difference between the simple and complete declaration
After filling in personal data, income, expenses and assets, the taxpayer must choose between the simplified or complete models. The first is usually more suitable for those who have few deductible expenses, as it automatically applies a 20% discount on taxable income. The second tends to benefit taxpayers with high spending on health, education and private pensions.

What to review before sending the IR?
Even in the last minute rush, reviewing the declaration remains essential to avoid inconsistencies and reduce the risk of falling through the cracks. Before transmitting the statement, it is worth checking:

- Personal data and CPF of dependents
- Income reports
- Values of investments and assets
- Medical and educational expenses
- Bank details for refunds
- Information on the purchase and sale of goods

After sending, the system generates a receipt for the declaration, a document that must be kept for future consultations and possible corrections.

What happens if there is an error or delay in the declaration?
If the taxpayer identifies any incorrect information after sending, it is possible to correct the data through the rectifying declaration, available in the Federal Revenue program itself, in e-CAC and also through the official application. Even for those who left the process until the last few days, the recommendation is to prioritize the organization of documents, use the pre-filled declaration and carefully review the information before sending. Useful information on the subject is available on Inter's blog.
