"Hacks": Jean Smart can 'brag' Emmy and equal record if she wins
Actress Jean Smart, 74, could achieve a historic feat if she wins the Emmy this year. The actress was nominated for every season of "Hacks" and won the award, so far in all of them.
If she wins Best Comedy Actress for the fifth time, the actress will have "accomplished" the series at the awards. And, by winning her eighth statuette, the television veteran will join the group of actresses who have won the most Emmys in history, alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman, all with eight wins each.
In addition to winning four times as Best Comedy Actress, in 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025 for "Hacks", Jean is the winner for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for "Samantha Who?" and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, twice for "Frasier."
In "Hacks," Jean plays Deborah Vance, a legendary Las Vegas stand-up comedian who needs to reinvent herself after a long residency at the Palmetto Casino. Meanwhile, Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) is a young screenwriter for a canceled comedy who is sent by her agent to work as the comedian's main screenwriter, when they begin to have a relationship of ups and downs, as they help each other reinvent themselves, in their careers and personal lives.
