Haaland returns for Norway's game against Ivory Coast

Norway will have the return of Erling Haaland for the duel against Ivory Coast, this Tuesday (30), in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. The striker was preserved in the last round of the group stage and returns to be a starter in the team led by Ståle Solbakken.

In a press conference this Monday (29), the coach stated that the team will need to raise the level of performance in relation to the victory over Senegal, a result that guaranteed qualification for the knockout stages.

"We'll probably have to go up another level, and we'll do everything we can to make that happen," said Solbakken.

The coach highlighted that the squad arrives prepared for the clash after five weeks of work during the tournament.

"The players are happy. The atmosphere is excellent. Physically, we must be at our peak. Mentally, they look strong and eager to play," he said.

Haaland has four goals in just two World Cup matches. The number 9 scored two goals against Iraq and another two in the victory over Senegal. Solbakken called the Manchester City striker "one of the best players in the world" and praised his leadership, physical strength and eye for goal.

On the other hand, Ivory Coast is betting on a talented attack to try to advance to the quarterfinals. Coach Emerse Faé has names like Yan Diomande, Nicolas Pépé and Ange-Yoan Bonny.

The winner of the match, which will be played in Dallas, guarantees a place in the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
