Grandfather and grandson die in plane crash in rural Goiás

A grandfather and his grandson died in a plane crash in the rural area of Rio Verde, in Goiás, on Saturday night (13). The victims were identified as Dirceu Zanchi, aged 68, and Gabriel Zanchi, aged 17.

According to the Fire Department, the incident occurred around 6:25 pm. At the scene, the garrison located the plane in the middle of a cornfield, on GO-174, within the rural property Fazenda Escalada do Rio Preto.

The two victims were located outside the aircraft and were confirmed dead by the Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) team while still at the scene.

Dirceu Zanchi Júnior, the victim's son, published a video on social media confirming the accident and said he believed the fall must have occurred during the landing attempt.

According to the man, one of the hypotheses raised is that when the wings touched the cornfield, which is relatively high, the aircraft ended up losing control and crashing.

In a statement, firefighters stated that the area was immediately isolated to preserve traces and ensure operational safety. The Technical-Scientific Police were called to carry out the investigation.

In addition, the Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention System was also communicated and guides other bodies regarding the preservation of the site for investigative work.

The causes of the accident are still to be determined.
