Grande Rio will have a plot about freed black people who returned to Africa in 2027
The Rio samba school Academicos do Grande Rio announced, last Thursday (25), its plot for the 2027 Carnival.
The Caxias association will tell the story of enslaved Africans who, after freedom, returned to the African continent with the title "Sankofa Tabon - Os Retornados da Costa do Ouro e a Estrela Negra da Liberdade".
According to the school, the parade promises to address the history of the people who settled on the Gold Coast, the area where Ghana is now located - the country that became the first independent nation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
"The golden bird came like a ray of sunlight through the window, landed on my shoulder and told me who I am. Sankofa - he introduced himself. And he showed me that the future of my land is to be free", celebrated Grande Rio on social media.
