Government will freeze resources from illegal bets and send them to the public security fund

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) announced this Friday (19) that the federal government will block resources from illegal bets and send them to the public security fund, respecting the legal process.
The information was released by the Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, and later confirmed in a video recorded by President Lula on the networks.
The announcement of the measure comes the day after an operation was carried out against a criminal scheme involving the movement of billions of dollars through illegal bets.

"Block for illegal gambling! Alongside the Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, and the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Wellington César Lima e Silva, today I signed a new measure that guarantees the blocking of financial resources from illegal companies betting", says the president's publication.
"Once due process has been complied with, the blocked resources will be allocated to the National Public Security Fund and will reinforce the fight against the financial structures of organized crime in the country", detailed the PT member.
How will it work?
The Minister of Finance explained that the ministry and the Ministry of Justice will administratively block, in a preventive manner, resources that originate from irresponsible gaming.
"The Treasury has been building this intelligence with the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (of the department) and with the Federal Revenue Service. When we identify an illegality, we will communicate with the banks saying: any account you have that deals with appeals from these irresponsible bets, you should try to freeze it", informed the Minister of Finance.
➡The minister added that the government will send these illegal bet processes to the Ministry of Justice so that these resources leave the banks.
"Respect due legal process, and go to the public security fund to strengthen the fight against corruption and the fight against organized crime", he added.
Operation against illegal bets
In this Thursday's operation (18), 14 search and seizure warrants were executed in three states: Pernambuco, Ceará and São Paulo (see video above).
There were no arrests in this phase of the operation called Conto da Sorte, carried out by the Public Ministries of Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco and the Federal Revenue Service.
"The objective is to collect evidence on a scheme of irregular exploitation of fixed odds betting and games of chance on the internet, called bets. [...] The crimes investigated are money laundering, induction into speculation, exploitation of gambling and unauthorized lottery, criminal association and against consumer relations", stated the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Norte (MPRN), in a note, this Thursday (18).
The warrants were issued by the 2nd Court of the District of Currais Novos, of the Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Norte.
The investigation was initiated based on a technical analysis by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), of the Ministry of Finance, after the city council of Bodó, a municipality in Rio Grande do Norte, created the Lotseridó authority (understand, below, how the criminal scheme worked). without SPA", according to the Federal Revenue Service.
The value transferred by illegal bets "will be revealed with the data collected in searches, seizures and breaches of confidentiality", but reaches billions of reais.
