The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is preparing a series of new measures aimed at MEIs (Individual Microentrepreneurs) - in the wake of sending the PLP (complementary bill) to the National Congress that adjusts the category's revenue ceiling.

The government's idea is to announce the measures by July 4, when the so-called "electoral defense" begins. After this date, the Electoral Court restricts advertising and inaugurations by federal management, so as not to unbalance the election.

In an interview with CNN, the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Paulo Pereira (PSB), stated that the government should announce a program this week to renegotiate tax debts for MEIs.

The federal administration must also launch the expansion of the Contrata+Brasil program, which encourages the hiring of MEIs by the Public Authorities.

The tax transaction notice, which will be made in partnership with the PGFN (Attorney General of the National Treasury), will allow micro-entrepreneurs to renegotiate debts registered in the Union's active debt.

The measure was designed to serve around three million MEIs that currently have pending issues with the government. The average debt is around R$4,000.

The program will provide for exclusive tax transaction modalities, including installments that can last up to 12 years. Furthermore, according to the minister, discounts can reach 70%.

"We have something like 3 million entrepreneurs who are in default, who are not paying their taxes, which could affect their access to rights, to incentive programs. So, President Lula determined that we find a solution to these debts," the minister told CNN.

For Contrata+Brasil, the government's idea is to increase the number of microentrepreneurs on the platform. According to the minister, today the program has 8 thousand subscribers, and the expectation is to increase this number to more than 5 million registered microentrepreneurs.

Contrata+Brasil is a platform that allows the Union, states and municipalities to contract small businesses for government purchases and services.
