Government announces renegotiation of tax debts for MEIs

The government announced, this Friday (3), a tax transaction notice to allow, in partnership with the PGFN (Attorney General of the National Treasury), individual micro-entrepreneurs to renegotiate debts registered in the Union's active debt.

The package of measures to be announced before the so-called "electoral defense" was anticipated by CNN Money. After this date, the Electoral Court restricts advertising and inaugurations by federal management, so as not to unbalance the election.

The measure was designed to serve around 3 million MEIs that currently have pending issues with the government. The initiative serves entrepreneurs with debts of up to R$20,000 and offers unprecedented facilities to clear the company's name.

According to the government, the program authorizes debt payment in up to 145 months and guarantees discounts of up to 70% on interest and fines, with the preservation of the principal value of the debt.

The measure also offers an exclusive advantage for older pending issues. MEI with debts registered for more than a year has a 50% linear discount and a period of up to 60 months to pay.

The format of the agreement was designed to fit the entrepreneur's budget, with a minimum installment of just R$25 in all modalities.

Another announcement made by the government is about the expansion of Contrata+Brasil, a government platform created to increase the participation of individual micro-entrepreneurs in public purchases, connecting demands from public bodies and entities to service providers in the region itself.

Contrata+Brasil will also increase the number of economic activities covered, from 107 to 141 CNAEs (National Classifications of Economic Activities), with the inclusion especially in segments with large female participation, such as food, photography, cultural production, event organization, aesthetics and other creative economy activities.

According to the government, the measure seeks to increase the participation of women entrepreneurs in public procurement and diversify the services offered to government agencies.
