Google opens research center in São Paulo; look

Google inaugurated this Wednesday (27) the second building dedicated to research. At an event for the press and guests, the news was announced and the building was presented.

The building was installed at the Technological Research Institute (IPT), within the University City of USP. 400 jobs were opened, which will operate from July 2026.

"This historic building, which has already completed 127 years, was restored to allow the installation of the technology center", said Fábio Coelho, president of Google in Brazil, at the event.

The mayor of the city of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, was present; the dean of USP, the doctor and professor Aluísio Augusto Cotrim Segurado; the president of Google in Brazil, Fábio Coelho; and Vahan Agopyan, Secretary of Science and Innovation of São Paulo.

Technology center projects
Projects such as IPT Open will be located there, which is dedicated to strengthening the Brazilian research system and functions as a technology hub; and GSEC (Google Safety Engineering Center), the company's cybersecurity and privacy innovation and engineering center.

In addition, Google Campus will dedicate efforts to investing in startups working with artificial intelligence (AI) and inclusive technologies for minorities.

"Our goal is to develop a more inclusive country and be able to help companies that develop with artificial intelligence", celebrated Fábio Coelho.

The space will receive 120 people per week with the aim of establishing connections between entrepreneurs, academics and large companies.

Security first
According to Eduardo Tejada, global vice president of privacy and security at Google, digital security is one of the focuses of the technology center.

"I believe that Brazil will have an important role to play in defending the country from digital attacks", he said at the inauguration event.
