'Mafia PCC': New episode of Globonews Special premieres Monday (1st)
GloboNews launched the series "Mafia PCC - From Prisons to the Formal Economy", which shows the expansion of the First Capital Command (PCC) in Brazil and the infiltration of the State and the formal economy.
With two episodes, the reports trace the evolution of one of the largest criminal factions in the country. Founded more than three decades ago in a prison in the interior of São Paulo, the organization went beyond the walls of the penitentiary system and consolidated itself into a transnational drug trafficking network, operating in 28 countries and estimated annual revenues of R$ 10 billion.
Recent reports and investigations indicate that the PCC began to operate with a structure similar to that of large corporations, creating what experts call an "economy of crime".
The faction exploits loopholes in legislation, as well as difficulties. of supervision and international cooperation, to move billions of reais through fintechs, cryptoactives and investment funds - mechanisms that make tracking and financial monitoring difficult by authorities.
Marcola has been in prison since 1999. He is appointed by authorities as the head of the PCC
