Giroud congratulates Mbappé on his record number of goals in the French team
Olivier Giroud made a point of congratulating Kylian Mbappé after the striker became the top scorer in the history of the French national team. With two goals in the 3-1 victory over Senegal, this Tuesday (16), in the World Cup, the French captain surpassed the mark of 57 goals that belonged to the former center forward.
"Congratulations, Kylian. You did it. I'm very happy," said Giroud, who followed the match as a BBC commentator.
Mbappé scored his first goal in the 21st minute of the second half of the game, finishing past the goalkeeper, and reached the historic record. In stoppage time, he scored another beautiful goal to expand his record and consolidate his name at the top of the French artillery.
Giroud also revealed that the Real Madrid striker promised to give him the shirt he wore in the match.
At 27 years old, Mbappé continues to expand his collection of brands for the French team and started the World Cup in a decisive way. France returns to the field next Monday (22) to face Iraq, before facing Norway in the final round of the group stage.
