In an international friendly played this Tuesday (2), at Cardiff City Stadium, in Wales, the Welsh and Ghanaians drew 1-1. The goals of the game were scored by midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, for Ghana, and Louis Koumas, for Wales, the latter being in second-half stoppage time.

This was Ghana's last test before their debut at the 2026 World Cup. The Ghanaians are in Group L, alongside England, Croatia and Panama, and their debut will be against the Panamanians, on June 17th (Thursday), at 8pm (GMT), in Toronto, Canada.

Wales, in turn, are not qualified for the World Cup. The national team lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first round of the play-offs.

It is worth remembering that this Tuesday's friendly (2) marked the debut of Carlos Queiroz, Portuguese and Ghana's new coach, announced in April. Leading the Ghanaians, he will compete in his fifth World Cup, but he has only made it past the group stage once, in 2010, with Portugal.
