Germany's jewel suffers injury in training and becomes doubtful for the World Cup

Young Lennart Karl suffered an unspecified injury during Germany training this Friday (5). The information was released by coach Julian Nagelsmann, as his team prepares for the last friendly match against the United States, which precedes the start of the World Cup.

The 18-year-old midfielder was a new addition to Nagelsmann's squad, following his meteoric rise this season at Bayern Munich. Now, his participation in the competition appears to be in doubt.

"Lenny was injured today. We need to see what happened. It doesn't look good", said the coach in a press conference before Saturday's friendly (6), against the Americans.

"Let's go to the hospital to do tests calmly. Don't start running after him. Leave him alone. You will receive the information. He needs to process the situation on his own", explained Nagelsmann.

"First we need a diagnosis and then we will let you know if we can, we hope, continue to count on it or if we will need to call in someone else", he concluded.

The four-time world champions are aiming to lift the trophy after shock group stage eliminations in the two previous editions of the World Cup, in 2018 and 2022.

The German team is in Group E and debuts in the competition against Curaçao on June 14, before facing Ivory Coast and Ecuador.
