German guru fails in Holland's guess, and Neymar says: "He was wrong again"

The Monday (29th) of the World Cup was not good for the economist, and guru, Joachim Klement. The mathematician had predicted that Japan would eliminate Brazil and that the Netherlands would be the champion of the tournament, but the results were very different from what the German expected.

On his social networks, Neymar took the opportunity to poke fun at Klement: "He made a mistake again (laughs)", said the number 10, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The provocation came after Klement "tricked" after Neymar's first provocation. The guru even congratulated Brazil for qualifying, but assured that the Netherlands would be in the grand final against the Seleção.

Therefore, both predictions were not confirmed. Brazil came up behind on the scoreboard, but sought a comeback in the final minutes and secured a place in the round of 16, while the Netherlands were eliminated by Morocco on penalties.

Who is it?
Klement gained notoriety for developing a statistical model to project World Cup results. The study took into account factors such as GDP per capita, population, temperature and historical performance of the teams. The researcher chose the champions of the last three editions of the tournament, pointing out Germany, France and Argentina as favorites for the 2014, 2018 and 2022 titles.

In the projection released before the 2026 World Cup, however, the mathematician predicted that Japan would eliminate Brazil in the first knockout match. In an interview with the BBC at the time, he classified the possibility as "one of the biggest upsets in the history of the World Cup".
