Galvão Bueno: "Ancelotti wants Neymar in the World Cup when he can play"
With the confirmation of Neymar's injury, the tendency is for the Santos star to miss Brazil's first game in the World Cup. The announcement was made by CBF doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, at a press conference.
For Galvão Bueno, the Brazilian's remaining among the squad and the way in which the team's technical committee has dealt with the situation is a strong sign that coach Carlo Ancelotti counts on the player for the World Cup, even if three weeks before his debut, he is still not fit to play.
"It is clear that the CBF medical department will work intensively with Neymar, but the final decision is Ancelotti's," he said.
Galvão recalled a recent interview with Carlo Ancelotti, before the friendlies against France and Croatia, in which he said he would evaluate whether to call up "a player who won't be 100% in the squad but has to be 100% in the World Cup."
"Right now, he shows that he wants Neymar in the World Cup when he can play. Let's hope that everything ends up working out, and Neymar, when he can play, can help the Brazilian team. But at this moment, the decision belongs to coach Carlo Ancelotti", he added.
What is Neymar's injury
The player underwent new tests in Teresópolis after reporting to Granja Comary. The images demonstrated a grade 2 muscle tear in the right calf.
"He presented himself yesterday at Granja Comary, underwent all additional medical tests and ended with an MRI that identified a grade two muscle injury in the calf, not just an edema", he stated at a press conference.
