Galípolo: Monetary policy is bringing growth close to potential

The president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, stated this Monday (25) that monetary policy has been working and bringing growth closer to potential.

"It has been placing growth at a level closer, for example, to the level that we understand to be the growth potential of the Brazilian economy. We see the behavior of several indicators, as we call them here, cyclical, softening over this period from a more contractionary interest rate level", he said.

The statements were made during a press conference on the REF (Financial Stability Report) for the second half of 2025.

Galípolo considered that, for shorter periods, the projections are contaminated by two variables, on the one hand the supply shock related to the conflict in Iran and on the other a second supply shock related to El Niño.
