The president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, repeated this Monday (25) that it is up to the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to send to the Senate the nomination of names to compose the institution's board of directors, which has two vacancies open since the beginning of the year.

"It is the prerogative of the President of the Republic, it will be the president who will judge when to nominate, who to nominate. We continue here, carrying out our work", he said.

Galípolo took the moment to thank the directors - Paulo Picchetti and Gilneu Vivan - who are accumulating positions until there is a response to the situation. "The directors have gone out of their way to be able to cover both departments with as much excellence as they have done", he stated.

Director of International Affairs, who has also served as director of Economic Policy, Picchetti commented on how he has been approached in recent times.

"People joke, they ask me if I now have two salaries, if I have two votes. I don't have two salaries, nor two votes on the board, nor on the Copom", he also commented in a playful tone and citing the Monetary Policy Committee.

According to him, the teams have collaborated so that he can play both roles at the same time and so that there is no loss of continuity in quality.
