disclosure/GAC
GAC launched the Aion UT in Brazil, an electric hatch that arrives with the aim of improving the brand's sales and competing with BYD Dolphin and Geely EX2, offering more power and space than its rivals.
These features are essential for the new hatch to be able to surpass not only one of the best-known electric cars in Brazil, but also the model that occupies the second position in the sales ranking in the country between January and April, according to the Association Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association (ABVE):
BYD Dolphin Mini: 21,647 registrations;
BYD Dolphin: 7,579 registrations;
Geely EX2: 6,076 registrations;
BYD Yuan Pro: 2,389 registrations;
Chevrolet Spark: 2,031 registrations. GAC Aion UT arrives in Brazil in two versions: the entry-level one, called Premium, aimed at competing with the Dolphin Mini and Geely EX2, and another more complete version called Elite, designed to take on the Dolphin.

In common between the versions, the model is 4.27 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.75 meters.
As a result, the Aion UT is a hatchback, but in terms of dimensions, it is six centimeters larger. longer than the Volkswagen T-Cross (4.21 meters) and has a wheelbase five centimeters longer than that of the Toyota Corolla (2.70 meters).
The space between the axles is another number closer to SUVs than hatches: the trunk has a capacity of 340 liters.
Another point that is the same in both versions of the Aion UT is the electric motor, which delivers 204 horsepower and 21.4 kgfm of torque. The differences between the models start with the battery: while the entry-level version has 44.1 kWh, the most complete version offers 60 kWh, which guarantees a range of 253 and 310 km respectively.

GAC needs more traction
The launch of Aion UT needs to result in an increase in GAC registrations in Brazil. This is because, even after a year of operating in the country, with five electric and hybrid models available since the first month, the brand has not yet advanced in the sales ranking.
In the 2026 ABVE list, GAC occupies eighth position in the ranking, ahead of Leapmotor, but behind names like Volvo and Chevrolet. The brand accounts for 2% of brand new car registrations between January and April, while the market leader is BYD, with 45.8% of sales.
