Gabriel Ganley case: athlete took medication for insulin sensitivity
Bodybuilder Gabriel Ganley, 22, was taking medication related to insulin sensitivity and blood sugar. The young man was found dead by a friend, last Saturday (23), in the kitchen of his apartment in São Paulo. The death is being investigated as suspicious.
In a video published three months ago on one of his social networks, Ganley appears showing the public his routine. In one of the excerpts, he presents medications he took daily, including one for "insulin sensitivity" and another related to "blood sugar".
So far, the cause of the bodybuilder's death has not been disclosed.
The young man was preparing to compete in the Musclecontest Brasil, which takes place in July, in Curitiba (PR). Carioca, the "little baby", as he was known, gained notoriety with the public sharing his training routine and diet while still underage.
Suspicious death
In a statement, the SSP-SP (Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo) reported that an examination was carried out at the scene and it was found that there was no appearance of violence. The case is being treated as a suspicious death-sudden death.
In these situations where the case is suspicious, there is no way to necessarily say that there was evidence of a crime.
Classification is used when the cause of death is not clear and more tests are needed to reach a conclusion.

Actress Mel Maia, who studied with Ganley at school, recalled important moments in the history of her friendship with him and highlighted that she saw the young man as a "brother". See the tribute in full:
"Today I lost a friend that I can call a brother.
He was one of the few people who held my hand when I was in school. When everyone wanted to be around, he stayed. He was my true friend, until the end.
Since he was a teenager, he was already different. Hardworking, focused and dreamy. He talked about being a bodybuilder with a certainty that few people understood, but never about shortcuts. He wanted to build everything himself, his way.
And he did it.
The discipline, the lunch box, the focus, the desire to win... everything was already part of his dream. My friends and I always saw this with great pride, because we knew he would get there.
Today, seeing so much love and affection for him, I can only feel proud. From the boy who dreamed big, from the man who fought for everything he achieved and from the friend I was lucky enough to call mine.
You have fulfilled your childhood dream. Thank you for staying when no one else did. You will be greatly missed. "
Businessman and athlete Renato Cariani, who recorded videos with Ganley on social media, also said he felt sadness as if it were the death of a son. "I can't believe it until now", he described.
