From Corinthians base to world title: Paulo Sérgio highlights the importance of the feat

Champion of the 1994 World Cup with the Brazilian team, Paulo Sérgio is one of only three Sons of Terrão to win the World Cup. In an exclusive interview with Central do Timão, the former player praised the fact, highlighting that due to the pressure that existed at Corinthians from the base, the athletes were ready to play in any other environment.

"I like to tell this statistic because for people to understand how important it is to be world champion and to have left the field. For me this is very important. For me this is very important because this here, everything for me, was my base", he said.

"It was nine years with Corinthians, nine years of a lot of learning. I only managed to win a World Cup with a lot of pressure because here at the base we went out to play in any neighborhood. Here there were Corinthians fans and there was already pressure. So the Corinthians player who goes out to play anywhere plays anywhere. If there is pressure, he plays", he highlighted.

"I remember that when I left Corinthians I said, man, I never want to go to a team again that has to talk to the fans. We have to wait on the bus, we don't go out, in the locker room, you're locked in the locker room. I never want to play for a team like that again. I'm going to Leverkusen calm, that peace, there's no pressure, good", he said.

Apart from Paulo Sérgio, only Roberto Rivellino and Viola left Terrão and won a World Cup title with the Brazilian team.
